“Mockingbird Soul” will be officially released next Friday, January 27, 2017. This is a quietly soulful acoustic album of songs mostly co-written by Brigitte DeMeyer and myself, with two extraordinary upright bassists: Chris Donohue and Chris Wood, Micol Davis on gospel soul tambourine, Oliver Wood singing a duet on one song—and Brigitte and me harmonizing over my 1947 Gibson J45 acoustic guitar. Can’t wait for y’all to hear it. Look at those tour dates and come hear us live!
Now for something my soul and heart compel me to say—not political—spiritual:
If you’re wondering why the women folk are so riled up. Here is a big reason why:
The sanitized Fox News version (which leaves out “grab them by the p*ssy):

The part that really got people’s attention:
Trump: “Yeah that’s her with the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful… I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.”
Bush: “Whatever you want.”
Trump: “Grab them by the p*ssy. You can do anything.”
I am a married man with two daughters. I also played competitive sports from age 8-18. So I know locker room talk. I am not going to honor what President Trump said by calling it locker room talk.
What he’s talking about is groping women without their consent. A gleeful bit of advice from an older famous man to a younger man who is experiencing his fifteen minutes: “I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p*ssy. You can do anything.”
So if you’re drink your coffee and watching your TV and wondering, “Why are those darn women folks so gosh dang angry? I just don’t get it.”
I believe this exchange between Billy Bush and the man who took the oath of Presidency of the United States of America is one of the reasons.
Just words? What other of God’s creatures uses words? Parrotts, I suppose. But humans use words to communicate. And this is what Donald J Trump communicated while he knew cameras were rolling. Sure isn’t politically correct. It sounds like admission of groping women because he knows he can get away with it.
I wrote nice conciliatory words yesterday—because I really do hope for the best for everyone, all over the world. That’s Dr King’s Dream, and I hope for that peaceful world of tolerance and acceptance. But these words were said by Mr Trump for all to hear, and they aren’t going to go away—especially since he won’t acknowledge how wretched they are—what message of violation they send to all women.
I don’t like it, I can’t take it—but I guess I’m going to have to try
Peace and love y’all—
